Oct 2013 — Octoberfest - A Mile of Fun
Octoberfest in Appleton started in 1981. Starting out as several beer gardens, it has grown into a must attend event. On Friday night the "License to Cruise" with attendees looking at 400 antique and classic cars. This celebrates the past-time of "Cruising The Ave." Combine this with a variety of food booths and live bands, Octoberfest is truly a family event.
There are five stages for live music. Each stage is devoted to a particular style of music. The family fun area has activities just for kids including safety tips from the Appleton Fire Department and carnival rides.
Octoberfest is a community event, with more than 400 volunteers to tend bar, sell beer tickets, and work in food booths each person is a part of the event. The money made at the not-for-profit booths goes towards community projects. There are estimates that more than 2.5 million dollars have been invested into the community as a result of this event.
