Catch the Christmas Spirit at the Copperleaf

Holidays in Wisconsin embody the very idea of what the holidays should be; beautiful, cozy, snow-covered, family-oriented and eventful!

If you happen to be spending the holiday season in the Appleton area, (perhaps as a guest of the Copperleaf?) you are certainly in for a treat. The festivities kick off sooner than you may think! Here are a couple reasons you may want to consider getting into the spirit right here in Appleton.

First, the street running right past the Copperleaf Hotel, College Avenue, is one of the most popular spots not only during the holidays, but year-round! Outside all of the places to shop and spots to eat, the street is decorated with angels that have been hanging around since the 1960’s. Thanks to a wonderful lady named Frances Burstein, the tradition was revamped in 2003 and continues to make College Avenue an alluring place to be. You may catch them lighting the way for…

…the 46th Annual Downtown Appleton Christmas Parade held on November 22 at 6:30 p.m. The parade starts on the corner of State Street and College Avenue and makes its way down towards Drew Street. This parade is largest the nighttime parade in the entire Midwest. Last year, it is estimated that more than 80,000 spectators made their way to Downtown Appleton to witness the spectacle of lights, floats, bands and animals alike. The parade is held right after…

…the 33rd Annual Santa Scamper to benefit St. Joseph’s Pantry. The run/walk starts at the corner of College Avenue and State Street and proceeds down College Avenue to Drew Street, finishing at City Park. The scamper has a number of different age groups for men and women. Don’t miss the collection of Santa’s flooding the streets prior to the holiday parade.
